The Requirement

To install a telemetered network of soil moisture sensors, a flume, a weather station and rain gauge at an old mercury mine in Asturias intended for pollution prevention.

The Solution

Jordi Corbera and Jordi Calvet from our Spanish team installed a range of sensors including a high accuracy water level sensor deployed in an RBC flume to measure flow at an old mercury and arsenic mine.

As you can see from the hazmat suits, this project needed to be meticulously planned, and telemetry was paramount to minimise the requirement for hazardous and costly site visits. Each sensor is connected to its own DataNode logger, and they all point to a central DataGateway where the system collates all the data.

The customer is able to access their data via vanwaltCONNECT and can add or amend alarms for each parameter where required. Jordi and Jordi never stop smiling and we are proud of them representing Van Walt. These two offered professionalism with a positive spirit on a very difficult install.
