About Us

Van Walt is seeking a highly motivated and versatile individual to join our technical department. This hands-on role offers a unique blend of responsibilities across R&D, technical support and operational assistance. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or individual with a strong electronics background and practical mindset. Must be flexible with a proactive attitude, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, prototyping, and functional testing of new products and systems.
  • Deliver frontline technical support to customers, including diagnostics, fault-finding, and issue resolution.
  • Maintain technical documentation such as schematics, assembly drawings, user manuals, and service logs.
  • Assist in compliance testing, product validation, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Deliver hands-on technical demonstrations and training sessions for both internal staff and clients.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical input during pre- and post-sales activities.
  • Conduct continuous product improvement initiatives and propose enhancements informed by user feedback, evolving regulatory standards, and advancements in technology
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on electronic equipment.
  • Support the coordination and management of third-party suppliers and vendors.
  • Provide hands-on support in the rental department and contribute to day-to-day operational tasks in the warehouse when required.
  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of rental equipment to ensure readiness and quality standards are consistently met.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Solid foundation in analogue and digital electronics, circuit theory, and embedded systems.
  • Competence at intermediate or higher in both mechanical and electrical engineering
  • Experience or proficiency in CAD software such as Autodesk Fusion 360.
  • Familiarity of mechanical aptitude and experience
  • Experience working with electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a methodical and analytical approach.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to tasks and problem-solving, with the ability to anticipate needs and take initiative without prompting.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Flexibility to travel facilitate, site visits & customer training.
