Exclusive purchasing options for Universities
At Van Walt we understand that funding for new equipment is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain and yet the demand for equipment continues to grow. In response we have developed several alternative options to help you purchase new environmental research and monitoring equipment. Recognising the various ways that you receive funding we have put together some different options to help you secure the right equipment for research, teaching, consultancy work or to replace departmental stock.
Rent Environmental Equipment
We rent a range of environmental equipment including:
Meters : Divers, Well Modems, PIDs, Water Quality Meters, Oil Interface MetersWater Level Meters, TDR Soil Moisture Sensors

Most equipment is available from 2 Day Express Rentals to ‘as long as you need it’. Our prices are competitive, our terms very favourable and we have one of the largest ranges and most comprehensive selections of equipment available to rent in the UK, including sediment sampling equipment, soil moisture measuring sensors and more than nine different types of pumps!
This is an ideal option for your short term projects and any consultancy opportunities.
Rent to Buy
We have recently introduced this option to help you purchase equipment and spread the cost from 6 months to 2 years. The features of the scheme are:
- Prices of equipment will remain at list
- A monthly invoice will be raised for an amount equal to the price divided by the number of months
- A small administrative fee will be levied for this facility
- At the end of the rental period you can decide whether you wish to continue renting the equipment or you can complete the purchase for the value of one month’s rental.
The administrative fee will be:
- 6 month rental: 2.5 % of the total value
- 12 month rental: 5%
- 24 month rental: 10%

Hand Auger Set to 7 meters, including all heads and extensions, purchased over 12 months:
- List price: £997.87
- 12 x monthly payments: £87.31
- Final payment: £87.31
- Total payable: £1135.03

Pick n’ Mix
Much of our equipment is sold in sets to give you ‘out of the box performance’. However, we recognise you need to make budgets stretch further so we are offering you the individual elements of any of our sets, so you can pick and mix just the essential items you need or maybe source generic accessories which may help you save more money.
This is the ideal way to update and replace valuable equipment from your sustainability budget.
