The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya wanted to monitor soil moisture in a corn crop field so that they could compare data received from high accuracy, in-soil sensors with data from satellites. The objective is to compare the accuracy of the two methods and to create a numerical model which will be used for applications like the prevention of droughts or floods.
To deploy four Hydraprobes, rugged soil moisture sensors with patented technology to provide continual and consistent measurement of soil moisture, salinity and temperature. With four GroPoint, 3 segment profiles for the volumetric water content of the soil down down to a depth of 45 cm, all attached to two vanwaltDataHubs, sending data directly to the researcher’s desktop, for analysis.
