Units of time

I could have gone down to the sea again but it’s raining and more importantly we’re celebrating my daughter’s 25th birthday.

At the beginning of a child’s life we measure in months. It then becomes years and soon decades.  When we’re able to refer to fractions of centuries, for a parent, it just gets depressing. But nature compensates well because it provides grandchildren and the sequence starts all over again.
