Looking to the year ahead

February 13, 2011

Our financial year ends 31st December. January is necessarily spent looking back at the previous year and for a portion playing catchup and getting to grips with the overindulgence of the Christmas break. February comes and our plans have been consolidated for another year’s packed programme. The shortest month of the year always seems interminable: let’s face it; British weather in this month does’t help and whereas I don’t suffer from SAD I can well understand why others might.

2010 was a great year for us. We survived the turmoils of the world economies as if they almost didn’t exist and extensive travel to some of the world’s remotest and exotic places remain highlighted and it’s difficult to imagine that we could have a similarly exciting 2011. But I think we will. New products and the prospects of new colleagues (co-workers to my American friends) to add to our dedicated team are programmed to happen and I already have travel plans for Holland, Germany, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, India, USA and, next week, I leave for New Zealand.

Looking to the year ahead

My wife and I take it in turns to visit our grandchild who lives in the delightful Wanaka; a small town surrounded by a lake, river and mountains in New Zealand’s South Island and it’s my turn this time. The crisp, clean, serene morning air as I drink my first coffee of the day with my son and his wife Shannon on the balcony overlooking Treble Cone is something that we should all be privileged to experience. It is late summer there now and I can’t wait to recharge my batteries in the heat of the Kiwi sun. And the biggest prize of all? I get to play with Eva!
