Getting the most from your YSI Water Quality Meter

June 3, 2013

YSI, part of the Xylem Group, is a global business committed to sustaining the quality and viability of the world’s water resources with accurate and reliable water quality testing equipment. Their meters have proved to be rugged, reliable, accurate and durable for groundwater monitoring situations.

At Van Walt we are proud to offer YSI water quality meters for sale and to rent – testament to their true fieldwork credentials. To support our distributorship of the YSI range we have produced sales support information to help you get the most from your instrument including a Redox Conversion Table because British Standard ISO 11271 requires that all Redox measurements be translated as if they were taken with a SHE electrode (Standard Hydrogen Electrode). We have also added a link to a spreadsheet where you can convert DO (%) measurements to DO (mg/l). In addition we offer films on the correct way to store your YSI Pro Plus and how to remove an air bubble in a pH probe as well as a detailed manual on YSI Calibration Tips or if you prefer send your meter to us and we will undertake a routine service from just £50.00 + VAT, for more information click here.

Another handy tip we would like to share with you is that when you are using a YSI Pro Plus it does have an auto shut-off function. This is great for extending and saving your battery life but not always handy when you are in the middle of a sampling set. This auto shut-off facility can be adjusted or turned off and to do this you will need to:

1. Turn on the meter
2. Press the ‘System’ button
3. Scroll down to ‘Auto Shutoff’
4. Enter the desired time in minutes (You can disable the auto shutoff by entering 0 minutes)
5. Select <<>>
6. Escape to the main screen.

Our rental units are normally set to turn off after one hour but you are welcome to change this if required.
