Just two months into 2009 and much has happened at Van Walt. Please read on for product news, training and staff updates. So despite inclement weather earlier this month, the credit crunch and continuing world bad news from the BBC, Van Walt has started the year strongly and we continue to work hard to ensure we have the products and training in place to support you – our customers – in these tough times.
We are always open to new products, ideas and suggestions so if you can’t find what you’re looking for online or in our product catalogue – call us. We want to do everything we can to deserve your continued custom and support.
Sincerely
Vincent van Walt

In January we were appointed the exclusive distributor of YSI Environmental Monitoring and Water Quality Meters and Systems in the UK and Ireland to groundwater customers.
YSI, a US company who manufacture and distribute instruments, software, and data collection platforms for environmental monitoring and testing, is renowned for their excellent and extensive range of market-leading, rugged water quality meters and environmental monitoring systems.
At Van Walt we are so impressed with our new MRZB micro-drilling rig that we are touring the country to ensure - as many of you as possible - see for yourselves its unique functionality. If you regularly carry out window sampling investigations to depths up to 20m depending on soil conditions, geotechnical investigations and borehole installations, or you need access to difficult locations, or drill close to or inside buildings or want drilling equipment that is easily transported on the back of a trailer or inside a transit-sized van – then you need to book your place now - as the MRZB has it all.
Every home owner understands that restoring and replacing a plumbing system, or a heating unit, is far more expensive than taking care of the system properly in the first place and the same is true for nature’s ecosystems. Global ecosystem services - storing the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, cleansing fresh water supplies, preventing soil erosion and providing food security through oceans and coral reefs has been assessed to be worth as much as $33 trillion (£22.6 trillion) a year.
For some time now Van Walt has operated an equipment rental division offering pumps, meters and remediation equipment – and we have never been so busy!
As part of our rental package we are also offering free workshops to regular rental customers, wherever they are located.
"The aim," says Tom, Rental Manager, "is either Jonathan, myself or both of us together will go out to our customers’ offices or on site – whichever is most convenient and appropriate and we will go through the different rental equipment we provide and, as importantly, how it operates, how best to achieve accurate results, basic on-site maintenance and troubleshooting. By the end of the session, which takes just an hour of our customer’s time, we know that in the future potential downtime will be minimised and that our customers will benefit from real ‘out-of-box’ performance."
To book a rental workshop call either Tom or Jonathan on 01428 661 660.
Once again Van Walt is pleased to be supporting the Quaternary Research Association’s 8th International Postgraduate Symposium at the University of Manchester on 25th to 28th August 2009.
In addition QRA Van Walt is also supporting Geoarchaeology 2009 at Sheffield University on the 15th to 17th April 2009 in the Departments of Geography and Archaeology.
