Making the YSI ProDSS even easier to use…

August 12, 2017

The YSI ProDSS is the flagship handheld water quality meter in our rental fleet.  Using the advanced technology from the EXO series the ProDSS has been designed for demanding field work to measure water parameters like dissolved oxygen (optical), pH, ORP, conductivity, specific conductance, salinity, TDS, resistivity, TSS, depth, temperature and, most importantly, turbidity.

This instrument is rugged and reliable with intelligent, user-replaceable digital sensors that can be connected to any port, that are automatically recognised by the instrument and retain the calibration data. Van Walt’s rental instruments are configured/calibrated to measure temperature/conductivity, DO, pH, ORP and turbidity.

YSI are so committed to the ProDSS that they have established a new online learning program – ProDSS On-Demand Training. This resource is free to use and ensures anyone using the ProDSS is comfortable going into the field with the instrument to obtain good, accurate results. Click here to find out more.

From Van Walt’s perspective and to make the YSI ProDSS even easier to use, whether you are renting or buying from us, and, more importantly, to make accessing your data extremely straightforward, we have now added a usb adapter to our YSI ProDSS system. This means you can download your data from the handheld meter without having to install specific YSI ProDSS

Software on your PC or laptop. Just follow these seven simple steps:

  1. Plug a usb drive into the small usb adaptor lead included in your rental or purchase YSI ProDSS instrument
  2. Press ‘File’ button
  3. Go to ‘Back up data’
  4. Enter the time frame of the file required
  5. Go to the top and click ‘Back up data’
  6. A .csv document should now be created on the drive that you can easily open in excel
  7. If renting the ProDSS please wipe your data from the unit on return.
