Environmental Training for the Nuclear Industry - Sellafield Ltd land quality operations team is responsible for restoring the Sellafield site, preventing pollution and removing the impacts arising from historic activities.
The team consistently needs to ensure they are up to date with the most recent environmental standards, techniques and reporting practices. Van Walt has delivered 'Monitoring Well Installation & Sampling for Environmental Research' and 'No purge/Passive Sampling' training sessions to ensure the team has the skills and expertise they need to comply with all the latest requirements.
Spreading the No purge/Passive Sampling Technique in Scotland - At the Scottish Contaminated Land Forum (SCLF) we presented on the subject of no purge/passive sampling techniques – truly green technology. The association, who encourage and promote the effective and sustainable rehabilitation of contaminated land, were interested in understanding the benefits and methodologies behind this growing groundwater sampling technique.
Training County Councils - Members of Fife, Dundee, Angus and Perth & Kinross County Council's environmental protection teams made up the delegates for a two day course in Scotland which combined classroom theory with practical sessions. Modules covering groundwater, soil, sediment, peat sampling, water quality And water level logging and remediation where all included.
Much of the training we do onsite involves the equipment we have provided. Very often this training is part of the service we offer for some of our more specialist environmental research equipment and is included in the price of the equipment but can also be arranged for anyone interested in understanding techniques, procedures and maintenance routines more thoroughly, complete the online form or call us on 01428 661 660 for more information.
More accurate meter readings - We delivered onsite training with a team from one of the UK's leading consultancies on good practice and consistency for water quality meter maintenance and calibration. The aim was to help the consultants improve the accuracy of their readings and reduce downtime in the field.
On site with the Dart project - We provided TDR soil moisture sensor equipment and liner sampling sets for the Dart team on their project to re-appraise the foundational science underpinning heritage detection. We went on site to help set up the equipment and provide training on the telemetry and TDR technology.
Window Sampling Training - With the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, who are leading a project to produce a framework for predicting the sustainability of bioenergy deployment across the UK and internationally. This project combines a large number of field studies with state-of-the-art process models, to help map the UK bioenergy carbon opportunity up to 2050 and Van Walt provided well insertion equipment and full training on its use.
For us it is important the equipment you buy from us exceeds your expectations and operates efficiently and effectively. Sometimes that might mean some additional training is required to ensure you get the best, most accurate results from your purchase. We are happy to arrange equipment specific training at our premises or onsite with the main operatives.
