Manual augering is very suitable for soil research. Over the years many auger models have been developed to cope with different soil types. By using extension rods, augerings to depths of up to 10 metres are possible.
When little manpower is available for soil research in the field and long distances need to be covered carrying the equipment, manual augers are ideal because of their lightness and small size.
