Snap Samplers

Save time, save money and improve the quality of your groundwater data

For almost a year we have been delighted to supply the no purge Snap Sampler. In that time interest in passive, low flow and no flow sampling continues to grow but like all things there is no ‘one size fits all solution’ for these techniques. Of the equipment available each has its advantages and disadvantages so before deciding which is appropriate for your project we recommend you carefully evaluate the costs against your budget, sample volumes, the number of analytes/compounds you are sampling, repeatability of the research including depth, who will be undertaking the monitoring and therefore how easy is it to use? In addition, particularly if you are sampling for volatiles, consider whether you can expose the sample to the atmosphere and the impact of any disturbance to the well water.

Much to think about!

To make it easier we have evaluated the different alternatives and our results are available here. The Snap Sampler performs very highly across most of the categories so is an excellent all-round choice but you don’t have to take our word for it. The manufacturer, ProHydro Inc, has had the equipment validated by the US Army Corps, among other demanding users, and they are proud to publish the results.

To find out more about the Snap Sampler follow the link to our web page or watch a short video demonstrating the benefits.

And like all things no one piece of equipment is adds a new dimension to the collection of water samples.  It is a passive sampler that collects a sample down in a well, in sealed bottles, which are then retrieved and sent directly to a laboratory for analysis. The sample is never exposed to the open air and collection of the sample does not require pumps, controllers, meters or purge water waste containers.  It is simpler, safer and more cost effective to collect the samples and data quality is improved.

More information on the growing trend in the UK towards low flow or low volume purging, no purge or passive and diffusion sampling can be found on our new Technical Information Sheet – Low flow & passive sampling techniques. Watch our Snap Sampler video to see the time and money saving advantages of passive sampling.

The Snap Sampler has been awarded the National Groundwater Association Equipment Design Award and is available exclusively in the UK and Ireland from Van Walt Ltd.
