The Van Walt 2010 Photographic Competition

At Van Walt we’re passionate about photography

Take a quick tour of our website and I hope you’ll agree – we feature a lot of spectacular photographs. But we always need more, particularly stunning location shots, ideally featuring some of our equipment!

That’s why we’d like to ask for your help and have launched a photographic competition.

It’s free to enter; we hope it’s fun - taking pictures of your research; we’ll get some stunning photographs and – in reward – we’ll feature your pictures (fully accredited) on our website and present a Canon Powershot S90 Camera - a comprehensive, compact camera with a fast, useful zoom in a 'carry anywhere' convenient size.  Excellent image quality and a well thought out user interface that delivers a surprisingly fast and fluid shooting experience - to the winner.

In addition, we will introduce a new page to our site – Van Walt 2010 Photographic Competition Gallery  – featuring your entries.

The Competition

There are two strands to the competition. 

1. To win the Canon Powershot S90 Camera we are looking for shots of environmental research, using our equipment on site.  If you can feature a great landscape backdrop as well – all the better!

2. In addition – because we love interesting photographs – we are also launching an Exhibition Gallery where images – of anything you like – will be featured throughout the duration of the competition.  For the gallery there are no restrictions on the subject or content – just photographs that you would like to share with visitors to our website.

The Rules

• All pictures should be in jpeg format.
• You can submit a maximum of 3 pictures per person (6 in total across the two categories).
• Your photos should not exceed 500 kilobytes in size and 1000 pixels on the longest side.
• All entries should be sent by email to vincent@vanwalt.com, with the heading:

Van Walt 2010 Photographic Competition Or Van Walt Exhibition Gallery

• Your photos should preferably contain exif data but as a minimum they must have a title, date and your name.
• All judging will be done by Vincent van Walt and the judge’s decision is final.
• Van Walt Ltd will be given permission to use the photographs for marketing or other purposes at no cost.
• The competition starts on the 15th July 2010 and ends 12:00 noon 15th December 2010. 
• The winner will be announced on 20th December 2010.
• Van Walt Ltd reserve the right to offer an alternative prize, to the same value, as the prize listed.
• No member of the Van Walt staff or family members are eligible to enter.
